Community programming is so important to the City of Escondido and needs to be a top priority of the Escondido City Council members elected to serve the City and District 3. These services include the Library, the California Center for the Arts, senior programs, recreation services for youth, and a full staff of City of Escondido employees.
Keeping small businesses in Escondido is crucial to our city. I am so fortunate to live in District 3 with not only downtown Grand Avenue but amazing, diverse small businesses on East Valley Parkway each very unique. I will be the voice for these store owners and listen to what they need to survive and thrive.
Being in the nonprofit industry for almost 20 years, one of my key job duties is to ensure a budget is created and revenue streams are able to sustain and grow the organization. I will ensure we find and implement the correct changes and initiatives to balance the budget while ensuring that vital services for the public are maintained.
There is a significant increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness. There is not only one solution to help this population and there are so many innovative answers already being engaged in San Diego County. I have worked with many of these organizations through my advocacy work, and I am ready to bring a collaborative and multifaceted approach to help meet people where they are at in District 3 and the city at large.
There is a desperate need for additional housing in Escondido. This includes all types of homes for very low-income, low-income, moderate, and above-moderate residents. Developers are finding it more and more difficult to build in the area with long wait times for permits and restrictions on basic construction. There needs to be innovative collaboration with groups who support builders and solutions to ensure developers want and can construct different forms of housing in Escondido.
