Christine was raised in North County San Diego and has been a resident of Escondido for years, purchasing her first home in Old Escondido Historic District. Christine is very involved in the Escondido community serving as the secretary for the Old Escondido Historic District board, the fundraising director/board member of the Escondido Art Association, a member of the Escondido Community Foundation, a member of the San Diego Women's Foundation, and a member of the Escondido East Rotary Club.
Christine volunteers her time with Interfaith Community Services, Classical Academies, Old Escondido Historic District Board, Escondido Art Association, and St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church.
Christine has two boys who attend public school in Escondido and is married to her husband Derek, who serves as a commissioner on the Escondido Historic Preservation Committee.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 1998 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish, Christine worked for Senator Phil Gramm in Dallas, Texas and Washington D.C. While working with the Senator, Christine's work focused on immigration issues and passport resolutions for the constituents within the Senator's district in North Texas.
Christine moved on to receive her Master of Public Administration in 2005, specializing in Health Policy from the University of Colorado at Denver. This was the beginning of her career in nonprofit work starting with Total Longterm Care, a senior citizen care organization.
Christine moved back to her home town of San Diego where she worked and lead various areas of nonprofit fundraising throughout San Diego County. Working in such areas as higher education, breast cancer support, diabetes health and food insecurity. While spending time between San Diego, Texas and Arizona over the last 10 years traveling for her husband's employment, Christine worked at Texas Wesleyan University, Phoenix Children's Hospital, FACE Foundation and her current position as the Director of Grants and Impact at Coastal Roots Farm.
Christine is a 2023 graduate of Leadership North County, a program dedicated to emerging leaders who want to better understand the region's challenges and opportunities. Graduates are part of the region's most outstanding citizen leaders including mayors, city officials, college administrators and business leaders.
